How do you keep Organized?
How do you keep Organized? Let's share some ideas.
The first quote that comes to mind is "Everything has a place, and everything in it's place". While this statement may be true, not everything in it's place may be organized. A person who lives in clutter may even be organized ( not that I indorse clutter ). Being organized, is being able to find what you need, when you need it.
So life gets busy, stressful, not enough time in a day or knowing what to do in a day; here are some ideas that may be helpful.
Organizing around the home:
Life at home can be hectic especially if there are children living there. Wether you are single, partnered with someone, everyone can be organized. One just need a goal, some guidance, determination, and support. Even with a busy schedule, try not to panic. Going a normal pace, taking things in, is better than rushing through things. When you rush, you actually take more time than you may realize. A lot of things may not get done on top of that; because you were not taking the time to think things through. Therefor you forget what you needed to do, or what you need to have with you.
Wake up on time to do what is necessary. Make your bed in the morning, tidy up your bedroom, get cleaned up and do other important morning stuff. You wont need to run around the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom if you made your breakfast and lunch the night before. Line out the clothing that you are going to wear that day and other things that you need to bring with you. I know that some food need to be made fresh, so that's one of the reasons to wake up early.
Do not spend time, chatting on the phone or on other social networks when you need things done. Make a list of what you need to do in the house and outdoors for that day. Post that note somewhere very visible and make check marks as you go. Bring your errands to do list with you, and check as you go. Clean and put things back after every use, that way, you won't spend your relax time trying to find places for things. Tidy the couch, table, counters, bathroom, floors, etc right after use. Label things if needed; what they are and where they go. Have a filing cabinet, organize it appropriately.
Remember to stick to your goal. Do you need to be organized? Why? Get rid of unnecessary items in your house as you go. Give them away or just toss them. Extra toys, tote bags, summer sandals, paper bags, plastic bags, movies, CDs, pillows, clothes, shoes, plants, etc.
Do your laundry appropriately, separating colors and whites. Do your laundry when needed. Not when you are out of clothes to wear. Make sure all your clothes are pressed right after laundry time, so you won't need to run around in the morning trying to press your clothing. Prepare for the appropriate weather the night before, even you know that the 'Weather Man' lies. loll.
When you get home keep focus of the things that you need to do for the rest of the day, and the days to come. Do not get distracted by television ( TV is over rated anyway ), or video channels online. Keep filing out your to do list as you go and make them happen. It will save you time and headaches. If you have a family, make sure you give them time in your day. Family time is the most important, beside going to work and do things for them. Make time for the family while keeping focus. Have them participate in chores, errands, meetings, game nights, reading time, etc. The tasks for the home will be a less burden for you alone. Calendars, post its, clear plastic bans, storage spaces within the home ( I do not indorse renting out storage spaces), even a personal assistant, may be great assets on keeping Organized.
Organizing in the car:
A car can be a dwelling place for some. The same stuff I talked about above can be used to keep your car Organize. Don't leave trash ( have a plastic bag handy to take trash out, everyday ) and over load of stuff in your car for too long. If you're not using something, take it out. Clean, wipe, vacuum as needed or every week. Make it a habit to keep Organized, and it will become 2nd nature.
Organizing your office at work:
If you get clients, co-workers, and your boss in and out your office, it's a very good idea to keep your office neat. A cluttered area may give people bad thoughts of you and your professionalism. People tend to judge, so let's have them judge you and come out with a good positive judgement. This way, it will be a better impact on you or the organization you represent. Get a personal assistant or secretary if needed to keep you up to date and organized. Being organize at work will save you time, no stress, respect from others, get things done more efficiently and you'll be happier.
Organizing your life:
As I said before, being organized will save you time, less stress, respect from others, get things done more efficiently and you'll be happier with the way the day went. Being Organized may not be for everyone, I understand, but get other's to help you, support or hire someone to do the dirty work. Either way, you win with an Organized life.
