How do I keep myself and my life Organized? -looking presentable -
Don't we all want an organized life? Being organized is an on going job; the best way to keep at it, is if you practice oder in your life, then organizing will become second nature. I will not elaborate in this topic this week. You can view ( Why hire a professional organizer and who needs one? ) to get more info.
As many of you know, I am also a dresser/stylist. That is part of my business keeping you organized. Being organized also has to do with 'self image'. I am not too crazy about looking hot, flaunting, or being vain, NO; but you don't have to be all that to be looking clean and presentable. You can look presentable even at home, not only when you step out the house. I am part of a 'meet up' group, that helps people with their self image. Men and women can always look to their best.
What's going on for you?
-going on a date?
Got a hot date? married couples should still go on dates by the way, keep the love alive. Look nice for the other person ( how you look can be embarrassing. It's not all about you, it's about them as well) . Dress appropriately to the occasion and the setting. Be on time, and plan for the day or night accordingly.
-dining out?
What does your wallet say? can you afford it? It's always best to make a home cook meal but if you're going out to eat, make sure you are ready for the bill. Dress appropriately depending where you go. Need a reservation? location? etc. Don't throw away that left over. Bring it home for your pet, children or keep it for a night when you have nothing in the fridge to eat. Nothing should go to waste.
-going to the movies?
That's fun to do once in a while. Movies, lives shows, etc. What does your wallet say? can you afford it? Dress appropriately depending where you go. I've seen people with pajamas at the theatre, not cool.
-street market / grocery store?
Some people feel that they can stroll out of bed and go to the grocery store with their moumou on. Well......I don't know about that. How about if you run into someone, like a co worker, employer or potential employer, a significant other? Your hair all over the place, night cakes in your eyes, unbrushed teeth, pajamas and slippers on, now what does that say about you? You'll have to run the other way to avoid them. Being at the grocery store is not a glamorous place to be but don't treat it like you just rolled out of bed, walked to your kitchen and open the fridge.
-at home?
Being at home, comfortable and relaxing is great! Sometimes, you don't want any visitors or be bothered by anything. There are those days, when everyone wants to see you. So, you need to be prepared. Have a clean house and an outfit handy just in case.
-office / work?
I am against general work dress codes and uniforms. I think it's some way discriminating. I feel that, your skills and ability to do the job has nothing to do with how you look. But, hey! that's just me, and I am not hiring anyone. lol. Your employer thinks differently. So, please dress nice, clean cloths, nice clean shoes, tamed hair, brush your teeth, take a shower, where your toiletries, etc. Be presentable. When I worked in an office, so many people kept complaining about this issues of lack of hygiene in others. Self image! Look good, feel good and be respected for it.
-corporate vacation or outing?
Careful not to let your hair down, for too long or not at all. Your co-workers and employers are watching. Everyone else may drink, smoke, take drugs or act a fool, but you're not them. You have your own image to worry about. Do what you do. Because when you get back to work the following week, you'll be remembered and judged by how you acted.
-private vacation?
You can let your hair down. It's your money and time. Have fun! But remember, you still have a reputation to uphold. If someone is interested in you and ask you what you do, and you were acting a fool, your image will be distorted by them, even if you are a great person. It's a small world. You may go to an other country and think you can act up, but there's always a connection. ( I went to Montreal for 10 days. When I came back home in MA, two of my friends where also in Montreal that week. Although we didn't plan on it or saw each other, we all went there at the same time. So, you never know)
-laundromat?
Don't flaunt those dirty laundry.
-walking your dog / exercising?
Remember to pick after your pet, and don't let them do their business on someone else's lawn. Someone is always watching. Don't walk your pet in your pajamas. Wear clean clothing when exercising, even though they get wet and dirty.
-In and out of your car?
Keep your car clean at all time, even when you haven't had someone in it for a very long time. Because when you do, you are not going to know it. Don't apologies for having a smelly or dirty car, it gives the other person the impression that you are a lier and BSing. If you cared for a neat car, you wouldn't need to be embarrassed and apologizing. So, just own up the fact that you keep your car dirty and leave it at that. A car can be a dwelling place for some. Don't leave trash ( have a plastic bag handy to take trash out, everyday ) and over load of stuff in your car for too long. If you're not using something, take it out. Clean, wipe, vacuum as needed or every week. Make it a habit to keep Organized, and it will become 2nd nature.
-your wore rob and make up?
I am not encouraging unneeded shopping sprees, but have the habit of buying nice, well made clothes. Pricey make up and clothes are usually the best and last longer. So, do your home work. No stained clothing, run down shoes, masky make up, dirty finger nails, dirty untamed hair, dirty bag (inside or out), etc. When you wear sandals, make sure your toes stay clean. I know it's hard to, but nothing is grosser than dirty, muddy toes in public. 1
-general hygiene....
You got the full picture. I don't judge people on how they look but most the world do. People usually treat you how you look or present yourself, so do your home work and look the part.
